Panic disorder is associated with panic attacks that occur from time to time and can be very debilitating.
There is no known cause for panic disorder.
Signs & Symptoms
Symptoms of a panic attack include:
- rapid breathing
- feeling breathless
- feeling very hot or cold
- feeling sick
- feeling faint or dizzy
- tingling fingers
- shivering or shaking
- racing heart or irregular heartbeat.
Attacks can occur at any time, even during non-dream sleep.
Treatment includes medication and psychotherapy. It may take long, but treatment is effective.
