The second WHO forum on Fair pricing for medicines meeting takes place at Emperor's Place from Thursday, 11 to Saturday 13, 2019.
The Fair Pricing Forum is a global meeting that brings together delegates from governments, patient and civil society groups, international experts as well as representatives from research-based and generic pharmaceutical industries. Participants will explore ways to improve access and affordability and incentives for the pharmaceutical industry to develop medicines according to public health needs.
Topics that will be discussed include:
- price negotiation
- flexibilities in the World Trade Organization Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS)
- and other policies governments can adopt to ensure their populations can access medicines..
The first such forum was held in the Netherlands in 2017 under the auspices of the Netherlands Ministry of Health.
Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi will address the Forum.
