South Africa will on Sunday, 07 June 2020 join the world to commemorate World Food Safety Day.
The United Nations(UN) has declared the 7th June the World Food Safety Day, with the aim to strengthen global efforts to ensure that the food we eat is safe..
Scientific evidence shows that smoking suffocates the lungs and other organs, starving them of the oxygen they need to function properly.
Food safety is a shared responsibility and the South Africa government calls upon everyone, including food industry, farmers, scientific bodies, consumer bodies and the general public, to join forces and participate is a campaign to promote global food safety awareness. We all have a role to play from farm to table to ensure that the food we eat is safe.
Five steps to make a sustained difference to food safety:
- Ensure it’s safe
- Grow it safe
- Keep it safe
- keep clean
- Team up for safety
The theme for World Food Safety is:"Food safety, everyone's business".
The Department of Health, the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA), Dairy standards Association (DSA), South Association for Food Scientists, Technologists, FoodFocus, Anelich Consulting and other other stakeholders are partnering to commemorate World Food Safety 2020.
